The influence of environment on the quality of gravure printing
Gravure printing has higher requirements on the environment, such as temperature and humidity. The environmental conditions of the gravure printing workshop are very important for the quality of printing and reducing the loss of printing. Therefore, it is extremely important to grasp the influence of external conditions on the quality of printing and process remedies.

1. The influence of ambient temperature
Temperature has a great influence on ink viscosity and solvent ratio. The higher the temperature, the faster the solvent evaporates, and the imbalance of the solvent in the ink will cause many high-level dot printing difficulties. If the temperature is too low, the solubility of the ink will decrease, the ink will become thicker, and the viscosity will increase, causing difficulty in scraping. Temperature also has a great influence on the dimensional stability of the substrate. Practice has proved that keeping the temperature in the printing workshop at 20~26℃ is more conducive to printing.

Taking into account the temperature difference between winter and summer in the workshop, the dilution solvent used for printing should also be divided into different proportions in winter and summer.

2. The influence of environmental humidity
Too much humidity will also affect the quality of gravure printing. In the high-speed printing process, the volatilization of the solvent will cause the temperature of the gravure printing plate to drop, and condensation will appear on the printing plate. The condensed water is scraped off by the ink scraper and enters the ink, which will affect the ink. Quality, such as ink blooming, whitening, thickening, printing plate is not easy to scrape clean, the printed matter has the phenomenon of blooming. Excessive humidity can also make many printing materials damp. For example, nylon, cellophane, paper and other materials will change in size and tensile strength when they are damp, resulting in inaccurate registration. Excessive humidity will also affect the volatilization speed of the solvent in the ink and increase the solvent residue in the printed matter. However, if the humidity is too low, static electricity will be generated during the printing process. When the static electricity is severe, it will cause discharge and cause fire. Static electricity can also cause "flying" in printed matter, that is, beards appear around the color blocks. Too low humidity will also affect the adhesion properties of the ink. Therefore, the humidity in the printing workshop should be controlled at about 50%.

According to the actual situation of the workshop, the humidity of the workshop can be adjusted by humidification or dehumidification to meet the needs of production.

3. Effect of cleaning conditions
The printing workshop should keep the environment clean. Because in the printing process, the dust absorbed by static electricity and the dust sucked by the drying system will directly fall on the substrate through hot air drying, and fall into the ink or the printing plate, which will affect the printing quality or damage the doctor blade and the plate roller.

It is necessary to formulate cleaning measures, implement them to the crew and individuals, and supervise and inspect them by special personnel.

4. The influence of workshop air pressure
When the air pressure in the printing workshop is lower than the air pressure outside the workshop, that is, the negative pressure condition, it is easy to cause outdoor air to flow into the room through doors, windows and gaps, and a large amount of dust or mosquitoes enter the workshop with the wind. Therefore, in the workshop exhaust design, it is necessary to inject filtered air through pressurization to adjust the pressure in the workshop, make the workshop under a positive pressure state, and reduce the outdoor dust and pests from entering the printing workshop.

5. The influence of indoor lighting
The modern gravure printing workshop is equipped with purification and cleaning devices, and indoor lighting is generally used instead of outdoor sunlight lighting. Therefore, indoor lighting needs to consider the color temperature of the lighting fixture to ensure that the light source required to check the color and quality of the printing meets the requirements. It is recommended to use a full-color light source for indoor light sources. The printing workshop should be equipped with standard light sources in accordance with the CY/T 3-1999 "Color Evaluation Lighting and Observation Conditions" standard. When viewing reflective samples, the color temperature of the standard light source is typical daylight at 6504K.
